OBA’s second ECM day was another great success. The theme was stay safe and students were involved in a range of activities.
About 18 of our Year Seven’s went out on a ‘cycling safely’ course with bikeability. The rest of Year Seven took part in workshops delivered by the fire service and got to take a close up look at a fire engine – some lucky year seven’s even got to put on the full protective gear!
Year Eight and Ten worked were trained by Matt Fiddes Martial Arts school on self defence – so don’t mess with them!
Year Nine worked with the youth service exploring the issue of drug and alcohol abuse.
Year Eleven spent the morning looking at Emergency First Aid training with ‘Fighting Chance First Aid Training Solutions’ and in the afternoon 12 students remained and achieved the Health and Safety Certificate in First Aid. Francis Illing from Fighting Chance remarked:
“The Year Group were a joy to present to and the small group were really good. They asked excellent questions that were well thought through … when asked to do practical work they really excelled…their skills were outstanding”
So a big well done to Year Eleven! A big thankyou goes out to all the providers who came in and helped us on the day. It is a joy to be able to work with so many different agencies and the students really benefit.
