As the Principal of Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the school’s website. OBA is a happy, caring school where our students are at the centre of everything we do. I lead the school with my Senior Leadership Team.
We have very high expectations and aspirations for everybody in our school community and hold an ambition through our vision for OBA to be one of the country’s best schools. The school has enjoyed several years of success. In 2018 we were listed in the top three schools in Halton for our Progress 8 score, and have been the best school in Runcorn for this measure in each of the last two years. Our Sixth Form results are outstanding. In 2018, At A level, the average grade awarded was a C+, with 20% of all A level grades an A*-A.
That said, I believe that a school is so much more than a set of numbers on a page. This is a very special school that prides itself on outstanding pastoral care. We are one of a small number of schools nationally who are in receipt of the Inclusion Quality Mark at Flagship status. This means we are seen as a centre of excellence for our pastoral work on inclusion and we act as a hub school for encourage the sharing of practice. We actively promote equality and diversity and we are therefore a welcoming, inclusive and caring school that aims to be a home from home for our students. Every child matters to us, and we pride ourselves on the excellent relationships within the OBA family of students and staff who work hard together to ensure that all students aspire to be the best they can be. Our motto, NURTURE · SUPPORT · EXCELLENCE for all students, perfectly sums up our purpose; to create the conditions that offer that allow all students to flourish, regardless of circumstance or background. I am passionate to ensure that every child has the opportunity to go to university and get a good job that gives that a life of choice and opportunity. We aim for excellence in all that we do.
We have high expectations and place great emphasis on the highest standards of uniform and behaviour. Each student is valued and respected as a unique individual who is given every opportunity to realise their full potential. We support and challenge students to achieve success and develop as resilient, confident, healthy young men and women who make a positive contribution to their community.
Our school is built on a foundation of excellent relationships. There is a strong sense of community within our school and we are also very proud of the excellent links we enjoy with the wider community in Halton and beyond. We are proud of our place in our community and will always seek to serve it as best we can. We enjoy excellent relationships with parents and carers and work together to support our students.
Our friendly, highly qualified and professional staff have the pupils’ best interests at heart. They are a passionate and committed group who work very hard; they go the extra mile to ensure our students are not only successful academically but also through our enrichment and enhancement programme. We provide opportunities for our students through the ‘OBA Pledge’ which guarantees that every student will experience fifteen key, cultural, creative and sporting events in their time with us. There are over 120 different enrichment sessions each week and a superb ‘Saturday Academy’ schedule that is open to primary school pupils.
OBA is a warm and happy place to learn and work – Governors, staff and students have an immense sense of pride to be part of OBA and I encourage you to take a look around the website to get a feel for our great school.Emlyn Wright
