Parents in Partnership
Parents matter at OBA!
Parents in partnership with the Academy
Parent voice is very important at OBA. Please take a look at the information provided on this page and contact the Academy to sign-up and have your say!
Time to spare?
There are between 50 and 60 enrichment sessions running every night after school. Ranging from cooking to model-making there is something to suit every interest. If you have a particular hobby or skill that you would like to share or would just like to come along and help out, please let us know! All sessions start at 2:55pm and run until 4:00pm.
Parental Action Group (PAG)
Once every half term, the PAG meet to plan important community events. Themed bingo evenings, charity coffee mornings and the Academy's annual summer feté are all planned through the PAG to raise money for items specifically put forward by the Student Parliament. Last year, funds raised through the PAG resulted in new benches and seating areas on the school playground. We are always looking for new parents to join our team of dedicated parents, it would be great to see you at the next meeting at the Academy. Please contact the school for details.
Parental Engagement Group (PEG)
We understand that due to a multitude of commitments, it can be difficult for parents to find time to regularly attend meetings in school. Parent Voice is very important to the Academy and therefore we hope that our brand new PEG will make it easier for busy parents to get involved. As part of the PEG you will be emailed about upcoming/recent events, reports and new documentation and invited to consult and feedback your ideas via email, Twitter and the Academy's new E-Portal. We are confident that this new method of communication will allow parents to have an active part in their child’s education - without it being too onerous.
To sign up, simply contact Mrs Snagg with your email address or send a message to [email protected].
"The evidence is convincing: when schools, families and community groups work together to support learning children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more." (Henderson and Mapp, 2002)
Next time you visit OBA, please ask at reception for a Parental Voice Questionnaire. This quick survey enables you to feedback your thoughts directly to the Academy on a variety of points including facilities, uniform, behaviour and activities. Under the Parent tab on the website there is also a link to Ofsted’s Parent View Questionnaire which allows you to share with Ofsted your thoughts on the Academy at any time during the school year.
