OBA Vision for the Curriculum

The OBA Curriculum is designed to enable our students to achieve their life goals, regardless of starting point, situation or background.

Our curriculum prepares every student to respond positively to the opportunities and challenges of the rapidly changing world in which they will live and work. By the time our students leave us, they will be well-rounded and informed individuals. They will be resilient, respectful and ready; fully equipped with the personal qualities, skills and knowledge for a happy and successful life full of opportunity.

Our broad and balanced curriculum:

  • Embraces the individual and provides a personalised education through a range of learning routes that are engaging, relevant and effective.

  • Ensures students leave us with essential literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Develops and promotes healthy lifestyles.

  • Is “Primary Responsive” - taking into account our students’ starting points and providing daily support and challenge from transition from primary education to Key Stage 5 and beyond.

  • Embeds enterprise and work-related learning for all allowing our students to build partnerships with employers and businesses, both locally, nationally and internationally.

  • Provides the opportunity to study a wide range of academic and vocational qualifications with subject specialist teachers.

Through a clear structure, all staff provide support and challenge on a daily basis throughout the whole school day. Our curriculum enables our students to develop into well-rounded and informed individuals who embody British Values. An OBA student is easily identifiable by the qualities they possess when they leave.

Our curriculum is not static and its performance will be constantly evaluated and developed objectively to ensure it meets the needs of our students. We welcome the input from all stakeholders as we strive to be one of the country’s best schools.
