Academy Development Plan
The Development plan consists of strategic and operational developments:
- Strategic developments that will establish the School’s aspirations and implement the vision of what the school will be like in three years’ time. It takes into account the School’s resources and activities and provides a clear focus and direction for the School’s work.
- Operational developments focus on the immediate needs of the School and the processes for implementation of the required actions.
The development plan is divided into 6 strands that will provide:
1. Excellence in Quality of Education with sub sections for Curriculum Design, Curriculum Assessment and Intervention and Curriculum Implementation.
2. Excellence in Pastoral Care
3. Excellence in Inclusion and Support for Students
4. Excellence in 6th Form Provision
5. Excellence in Community Cohesion and Every Child Matters
6. Excellence in Leadership including Buildings and the Learning Environment
Excellence in Quality of Education with sub sections for Curriculum Design, Curriculum Assessment and Intervention and Curriculum Implementation.
Key Objectives:
Develop an outstanding KS2/3 transition curriculum
Develop a curriculum model with a clear focus on intent, implementation and impact
Develop a flexible, personalised curriculum provision to maximise students' engagement and achievement at KS4
Develop Literacy across the curriculum strategies and establish a culture of reading across the school. Create a text rich environment where literacy pervades the academy
Ensure a consistent and effective use of data programmes across the academy to track progress and plan intervention/teaching.
Implement system for positive reporting to students
Implement new system for reporting student progress to parents
Ensure that gaps between PP and non PP students close year on year.
Establish a Quality Improvement process in line with the new Ofsted framework
Ensure a clear system of pastoral support is in place to support academic progress
Review and develop a timeline of data usage and implementation across the school
Develop a common and consistent approach to intervention in all faculties.
Ensure that data collected is reliable and consistent.
Use homework to improve progress and attainment.
To provide high quality CPD, linked to Teacher Standards to ensure that all staff receive a personalised programme for improvement
Develop a mentoring and coaching programme for all staff
Develop a rigorous monitoring procedure to evaluate T&L strategies and its impact on learning
Develop an essential Teachers tool kit to ensure our objectives in terms of quality of teaching and learning are met.
Excellence in Pastoral Care
Key Objectives:
Review the house system within the school
Ensure that all staff have undergone adequate safeguarding training and understand their responsibilities to keep students safe
Ensure a through and effective transition for newly admitted students mid year.
Ensure that OBA is a zero tolerance school in regard to any form of bullying.
Excellence in Inclusion and Support for Students
Key Objectives:
Improve student attendance to over 94%, increasing to 95% in years two and three
To ensure all form tutors are at the forefront of supporting raised attendance in their form.
Provide support to help vulnerable students and PA students attend school and access education
Establish a SEN wave approach system based on Academy Inclusion Policy, to support SEN students
Empower staff to drive the progress of SEN students forward using Edukey
Excellence in 6th Form Provision
Key Objectives:
Ensure that the curriculum offer in the 6th form is appropriate and financially viable
Produce a structured re-sit programme
Ensure improved outcomes for all courses
Improve the tracking of students once they leave the 6th form and start their university course
Excellence in Community Cohesion and Every Child Matters
Key Objectives:
Develop an outstanding school enrichment programme
Develop Student Voice and Leadership
Review Lessons For Life tutor programme to ensure that we prepare students for life in modern Britain
Develop students understanding of cultural diversity locally, nationally and globally
Support students to develop into caring, positive and active citizens
Excellence in Leadership including Buildings and the Learning Environment
Key Objectives:
Develop an outstanding Senior Leadership Team
Develop an outstanding Middle Leadership Team
Develop an outstanding pastoral support team
Further develop the Governing Body’s understanding of the school in order that they can hold it to account and utilise their skills within the academy in a supportive capacity
Appoint and retain High Quality Staff to ensure high quality outcomes for students
Maintain healthy finances
Develop outstanding middle leaders and slt, including succession planning to ensure continuing outstanding provision
