Sixth form open evening - Wednesday 13th October, 5.30pm - 7.30pm

Exciting Times for OBA Sixth Form

Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy Sixth Form is excited to open a new wing in the academy building, allocated solely for sixth form students. The new area for the Sixth Form on Barnfield Avenue boasts a café, study room, relaxed mezzanine area, sixth form teaching rooms and a sixth form gym.

Head of Sixth Form at OBA, Mr Scott Fenner said, “It is an exciting time at the Sixth Form as we continue to provide the strong pastoral care students are used to in a school environment whilst now being able to offer the space for students to enjoy a college environment and develop as young adults in their own private area.

“We pride ourselves on the pastoral care and guidance that we offer students in Sixth Form, alongside their excellent teaching and learning experiences and extra-curricular activities. Knowing our returning students allows us to put any necessary steps in place prior to them joining us at the Sixth Form to ensure the smoothest of transitions from GCSE to A level or Level 3 study programmes. Sixth Form students at OBA are supported to achieve their life goals, regardless of starting point, situation or background.

“We have adapted and improved our OBA Scholars Programme.  This initiative is available to support our top achievers at GCSE. It is aimed at students who are achieving Grade 7+ and Distinction+ across all subjects.  Students have the opportunity to access widening participation programmes at University of Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster as well supporting students with application to Russell Group universities including Oxbridge.  We also offer support and experience for our aspiring professionals including Lawyers and Teachers.

“We had a successful set of summer examination results in 2021 and are on a positive trajectory in our journey as the only local Sixth Form provider in Runcorn.”

It is important that students make informed decisions about their next steps in education, post 16, as all young people need to remain in education, training or employment until the age of 18.  Finding out as much information as possible on what is on offer is vital for students to make the right choice for them.

Prospective students and their families are invited to attend a face to face Sixth Form Open Evening at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy on Wednesday 13th October 2021, 5:30-7:30pm.  During the evening, specialist A Level & Level 3 subject teachers, Curriculum Leaders, Assistant Heads of Sixth Form will be available to speak to as well as a Head of Sixth Form talk at 6:15pm.  Current students will be on hand to speak to about their experiences at Sixth Form and families will enjoy student-led tours around the facilities.

The academy looks forward to welcoming new students and their parents/carers into the Sixth Form and sharing what is on offer. They are encouraged to get in touch with the academy with any questions in the meantime.
