Transition is now in full swing and Mrs Snagg and the team are enjoying visiting all 23 different primary schools to meet our new Year 7 pupils!
Each pupil receives a welcome pack which contains some OBA branded goodies aswell as important information about life at the Academy. The student booklet particularly focuses on school uniform, attendance, times of the school day and enrichment.
In addition to their two induction days in July, our new cohort can take part in enrichment activities during the school week, Saturday Sports and The Around-the-World Project on a Saturday morning and a week-long summer school programme in August!
Mrs Snagg, Director of Transition, said; “Transition is not just about the last few weeks of term before students break up for the summer, it’s ongoing. Lots of the pupils will have already visited OBA for a range of different lessons as well as taking part in enterprise days and the school show. However there is still lots more to do! We really want to encourage students to get to know the Academy as much as possible before they formally start here. By attending our fantastic enrichment opportunities, Saturday Academy and Summer School, students will not only get to know key members of OBA staff but they will become familiar with the school building and meet lots of people who will be in their form groups and classes come September. All of this will help to build confidence and take away some of the nerves associated with starting somewhere new.”
Our motto is Nurture, Support and Excellence which means we will help students to settle into the Academy and ensure they have everything they need to be successful during their time with us.
