Associate Vice Principal Key Stage 3 Progress Leader
I am responsible for the welfare of all students at OBA and am the designated lead for Safeguarding in the Academy. I oversee all in-year school admissions and will meet with both parents/carers and students prior to entry. I am responsible for whole school behaviour monitoring working closely with Mrs Wallace and Mr Hough and closely track student behaviour through the stage reporting system and A2L. I oversee the PSP’s in place for students and monitor those placed in the internal isolation room, on FTE or accessing alternative provision. I am the Head of Nickson House and the SLT link for Year 10.
Assistant Principal Inclusion & Students
I work to continually improve achievement and progress by ensuring high standards of inclusive provision and support across the Academy. I coordinate the operations of the Pastoral, SEND and Attendance Teams ensuring that every pupil has access to full time education to which they are entitled. I also coordinate support with alternative provision centres. I am the progress Leader for KS3 and Head of Wilson House and am the SLT link for Year 8.
Director of Transition and Community Development
I am responsible for organising the transition programme for year 6 students and work very closely with the local primary schools and parents to ensure that any students who have chosen to attend OBA have numerous opportunities to visit the academy and get to know other students before they join us in September. Throughout the academic year there are opportunities for primary schools to join the academy for activity days and specialised lessons. I have also developed a very popular ‘Around the World’ Saturday Academy programme for primary school students, giving them the opportunity to learn about other countries in a fun and exciting environment.
I am responsible for behaviour support for students in years 9, 10 and 11 and monitor students on stage report and who are placed in the internal isolation room. I am one of the named Safeguarding Officers for the Academy.
I am responsible for the academic progress and the pastoral welfare of all students placed in the Horizons Centre; whether it be for short or long term placements. Often the students at Horizons have complex additional needs; which may be causing barriers to their learning and by addressing these and ensuring that appropriate work is set and competed, aim to maintain the curriculum links with the academy and allow for a smooth reintegration into the mainstream setting as soon as possible. I work in close liaison with the Academy and outside agencies to ensure that pastoral support is maintained and appropriate interventions take place. I also support students in the academy by providing intensive behaviour mentoring support.
I am responsible for coordinating the progress of all students with special educational needs and disabilities. I work in close collaboration with the SEND Manager to oversee and implement provision for students with additional needs and disabilities, ensuring that they are supported effectively to enable them to access a broad and balanced curriculum. I monitor students accessing the Inclusion Zone on either short or long term personalised timetables, which require them to be educated away from the normal classroom for any reason. I teach pupils in both years 7 and 8 placed in the Core Skills Group, a smaller than average sized class for students who may require additional support and repetition in order to progress at the same rate as their peers in English and Mathematics.
I oversee and implement provision for students with additional needs. I complete all annual reviews for students with a Statement for SEN, write student support plans and liaise with external agencies to maximise the amount of support we can offer at OBA. I provide staff with strategies and support for SEND students to use within their classrooms. I am involved in the transition of students from primary school, I can offer pastoral support; along with the Heads of Year to both students and their families through the CAF process. I coordinate testing for access arrangements for examinations in collaboration with the heads of faculty and the examinations officer.
SEND Student Support
I am a Teaching Assistant who specialises in Autism. I liaise with parents and outside agencies and work with students both in class and on a one-to-one basis to address their individual needs as well as providing long term intensive key working for some of our more vulnerable students. I supervise students at the morning ‘drop-in’ and run a model making enrichment.
I am a Teaching Assistant who specialises in Hearing and Visual impairment. I liaise with parents and outside agencies to ensure that appropriate testing takes place and that resources are provided to support a student’s needs. I provide in class support but also work with students on a one-to-one or small group basis. I supervise students at the morning ‘drop-in’ and run the model making enrichment sessions.
I am a Teaching Assistant focusing on Numeracy provision. My primary role is to support students in their Maths classes and help them to understand difficult concepts they may be struggling with and enable them to apply these in a practical and effective manner. I also offer support to students during enrichment, on a one-to-one or small group basis to help them consolidate their learning and apply it to the more complex things they will be taught in class. I also liaise with home for students who are unable to attend school setting appropriate Maths tasks, marking them and providing feedback.
I am a Teaching Assistant focusing on Literacy provision. My primary role is to support students in their English classes and help them to understand difficult concepts they may be struggling with and enable them to apply these in a practical and effective manner. I also offer support to students during tutor time and enrichment to help them consolidate their learning and apply it to the more complex things they will be taught in class.
I am a Teaching Assistant working predominantly with a small number of key students in the Core Skills Class. My primary role is to ensure that they are able to access all areas of the curriculum by providing specific interventions to support them. Attendance and Punctuality
Our purpose as attendance officers is to promote and encourage attendance and punctuality at the Academy. We work in close liaison with the Education Welfare Officer in enforcing the Law in relation to school attendance and to offer support to families and pupils to assist them in securing regular attendance this may include: home visits, attendance surgeries and target setting. Remember that excellent records of punctuality and attendance are the most important factors in your child’s success.
Alternative Provision Manager
I work closely with families to intensively support a cohort of students in regards to their attendance, punctuality and welfare issues, Identifying pupils’ needs and devising bespoke and targeted support plans. I am also the Alternative Provision Manager working in close liaison with the different providers and sourcing appropriate placements.
I am PC 5403 WILLIAMS and I am a Youth Engagement Officer and work within Runcorn. I have worked for Cheshire Police for almost 10 years, I was a Police Community Support Officer and for the last 4 years I have been a response officer based in the Warrington area. My main role as a Police Officer in the area is to help break down barriers between pupils and the Police. I will also aim to reduce victimisation, criminality and anti-social behaviour both in and out of schools. I will be working closely with Runcorn Local Police Unit to share information in order to create a safe environment for everyone in the community.
