Year 7 have been busy with ‘Frank the doggy doorstop’ named after our very own Frank Cottrell Boyce. 7JTR designed and made a new innovative product! Year 7 were given a lunchbox, tennis racket and hessian bag. Year 7 beat Year 8 in assembly to be titled ‘Victorious’.
7JTR have kept up their creative flare by designing keying’s and Christmas cards which were sold at ECM day and the OBA Christmas markets.
Well done to Emma Lynn Walker who is proving to be a year 7 rowing champ!
Year 8 are producing some ‘Champions’ of their own with Ryan Makin picking up a number of table tennis titles and Anna Ng proving to be the whole school Enrichment Champ! Keep up the good work!
Year 9 worked with a local bank and alongside OBAs Maths department to deliver sessions on budgeting and money saving as part of their ECM day.
As part of making a positive contribution ECM Day year 10 students took part in some volunteering work at O2, Beechwood nursing home and a local primary school. The students enjoyed the opportunity to give something back to the community and the feedback received was fantastic! Well done year 10!
Finally, Congratulations to our year 11’s who have worked really hard for their mock exams and all the hard work has paid definitely paid off with some excellent results. Year 11’s attendance to enrichment and Saturday Academy has been brilliant. Keep up the hard work for the up and coming GCSE exams year 11!
Dragon Boat Racing
Miss McAuliffe and Mr Barrett took the Dragon Boat Team to the annual competition at Liverpool Docs, with the hope of victory, they have been 2nd three years on the run and this was our year.
Joint fastest boat into the major finals it was going to be a close competition. Excellent efforts from our very own Chloe O. and the rest of the crew saw an unlucky third place and it was decided right on the line!!!
1st Liverpool College 1:51
2nd ESLA 1:52
3rd OBA 1:53
Maybe next year…
Year 11 GCSE’s
The Cottrell Boyce House team wish all the Year 11’s the best of luck in their GCSE’s, it is a tough time for Year 11’s but with the extra revision sessions coming to an end it would appear they are ready. Sam K. and Zoe L. of CB House are worth a mention for their dedication to achieving the very best results for themselves and tireless revision efforts in and outside of school.
“We cannot fault the efforts of our Year 11 group and wish them all the best for the future in everything they do.” – Miss Fleetwood
Sports week is upon us!
Cottrell Boyce house gear up for sports week with an early training session on the school field. Year 7 pupils have been putting in some extra practice for each event they are chosen for after school. Liam T. came along to train for the 400m and says it is something he wishes to win for the house. Mr Doran and Miss Taylors form are going to be showing their true CB colours next week and we hope for an excellent performance from them all. Sports day is the 27th of June ending and excellent week of sport for all including Bubble Football, Interhouse World Cup, Climbing Wall and Dragon boat competition.
Miss Fleetwood Faces her Fears!!!!!
A seemingly normal Wednesday morning saw Miss Fleetwood in a tricky situation when an assembly on the topic “Facing Your Fears” saw Zeus the Snake enter the room. Miss Fleetwood was caught off guard and CB House cheered her on as she faced Zeus and confronted her fears.
Well Done Miss Fleetwood!
