The Science Faculty comprises a number of subjects. These include: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Health and Social Care and Applied Science.
Our aims are to ensure every student is able to understand and critically evaluate any scientific problem they may be faced with in an ever-changing, modern world. Through the courses that we offer, we seek to provide an inspiring range of experiences both in and outside the classroom.
To support learning, students have the use of a learning plaza with panoramic projectors, a green screen, iPads and other technologies.
There are many extracurricular opportunities offered to the students. Science staff offer a number of enrichment clubs ranging from coursework and revision clinics to ‘Young Scientists’ and ‘Animal Care’ Club. Pupils from local primary schools enjoy our Young Scientist club on a Tuesday evening which they share with years 7 and 8. Animal Care club is a project where students learn about the husbandry and care of animals, this is done on site and at animal sanctuaries.
The science department has good links with local science employers such as; MexiChem, Fresenius Kabi and Daresbury laboratories. Students often visit these sites to; talk to industry experts, use laboratory equipment and for placements
