Ormiston Academies Conference

The year 11 Gifted and Talented dancers performed at the annual Ormiston Academies Conference at which OBA was asked to showcase our Gifted and Talented provision to all the Ormiston Academies as well as the executive board.
The conference took place at the prestigious National Centre for School Leadership in Nottingham and the dancers blew us away with their Beyoncé Mashup! A special thank you to Miss Johnson for her fantastic choreography. Massive well done to Leah Bentley, Kaitlin Falconer, Ebony Gumbs, Ashlee Kavangah, Isabelle Knisz and Abigail Savage.

On Wednesday 19th November 2 year 12 Modern Foreign Language students took part in the OAT conference to share how the MFL department works to develop students’ confidence and achievement in language learning. Eric Rotherham, who studies AS French and Holly Godden, who studies AS French and Spanish assisted Mrs Fakir in delivering a ‘speed-dating’ style presentation to delegates at the conference. They discussed the key elements in their language learning journey that have helped them to succeed so far and how they have developed a keen love of learning: so much so that both students now have the intention of studying languages at University. There were lots of important members of staff from other Ormiston academies at the conference and the students were highly praised for their excellent communication skills, professionalism and confidence. Well done to them both!
