Students and staff at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy in Runcorn celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 6th March with a mixture of sheer fun and sharp focus.
The day got off to an entertaining start with all members of the English Faculty dressing up throughout the day as one of their favourite literary characters. Ranging from Harry Potter to The Queen of Hearts, staff did presentations about why they had chosen their characters and answered lots of interesting questions from the students.
In a bid to win a Kindle, students then took part in a series of writing workshops, as well as a treasure hunt trail to discover the titles of ten classic children’s novels.
Mr P. Finnigan, Head of English, said “The atmosphere during the day was brilliant. Our students threw themselves into all the activities with enthusiasm and interest and it was great to see some of the very impressive creative writing that they produced by the end of the day. We are now looking forward to author, John Mayhew, visiting us in a few weeks to develop further the imaginative talents of OBA’s students.”
