On Friday 15th November a range of different activities was organised by both students and staff at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy to raise money for the annual Children in Need Appeal.
Sixth Form Catering students organised a mammoth cake sale, whilst pool leaders from Years 8-11 worked hard throughout the day to co-ordinate a pool tournament which saw students compete against each other and also staff. A table tennis competition and sponsored silences also added to the fun of the day and students braved the elements at the end of the day to watch staff and Sixth Form students compete against each other in a football match. Much to the delight of the talented Sixth Formers, they thrashed the staff team with an impressive 7-0 result, with the seventh goal being scored in the final minute of the match.
Mr Townson, Head of PE, who arranged the match and also played in the staff team said “The only consolation, apart for this event being for an exceptionally needy cause, was that it was great to see the lads display all the skills and talent that have been developed at OBA. As their teacher, it was a pleasure to lose to them – honestly!”
OBA is still collecting in sponsor money for these and other events but the amount raised at the last count was in excess of £500.
