Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy recently had a trip to London to watch some events from the 2012 Olympics. Here is a write-up of events by Miss McAuliffe:
Thirty-four students and five staff from Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy took a trip to the London 2012 Olympics for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We were so lucky with the tickets we received to view the athletics and basketball events and on 2nd August we travelled to London and went straight to the Olympic Park.
The Atmosphere was amazing and everything was really well organised. OBA watched GB v Spain and the USA v Nigeria. We were there to witness an Olympic record with USA scoring the highest amount of points in Olympic history. At midnight, we left to go to our accommodation at Eton College only to bump into some of the GB basketball players! Most of the students were fortunate to get autographs and photos with these outstanding athletes.
The next morning we were up early and we were very lucky to see the athletics in the famous Olympic Stadium. It was the first day of the athletics so there was a lot of excitement and the most incredible day was about to happen.
OBA students and staff had the joy of witnessing Jessica Ennis achieve a world record in the hurdles and many other athletic moments that will live long in the memories.
There was just time for a quick wander around the unforgettable Olympic Park to soak up the atmosphere before leaving for home after our once-in-a-lifetime experience.
