Last year the pupils in Tafari house selected Halton Haven Hospice as the charity they will support during the 2011/12 academic year. Halton Haven provides palliative care through a range of services to individuals and support for their families in Widnes, Runcorn and surrounding areas. The Hospice aims to relieve the sickness, suffering and distress of people resulting in particular from cancer & other terminal illnesses.
With this in mind, the first fundraising event for the new year has been booked and involves 11 members of staff jumping out of a plane! On February 18th (during the school’s half term break) the brave OBA staff will travel North to Preston, fly to an altitude of 15,000 feet (half the height of a commercial jet) and… jump. All in the name of charity.
They have set themselves a lofty but achievable target of £500 to go to this great cause! Please donate anything you can spare no matter how small, it will all make a huge difference!
