Children in Need

Students and staff at OBA entered into the fundraising spirit in aid of Children in Need. Staff and students have been raising money for the charity in a variety of different ways, such as fancy dress, and two brave members of staff shaving off beards (or half a beard in the case of Mr. Clark) that have been decorating their faces for years!

Some real fun was had during lunch, when male teachers from the academy had their legs waxed! Kayleigh Thompson, one of the students who had the job of waxing the teachers legs said “It’s really, really funny! It’s good to get our own back on the teachers, plus it’s for a really worth while cause.

OBA Principal Mr. John Rigby said of the day “The teachers are very brave, but it’s all for an incredibly good cause. Plus, its great for the students to see their teachers wincing in agony.”

6th form student Hollie Welch, who was collecting money for the children’s charity during the leg waxing event, summed the day up, “It’s been a tremendous day! It’s great to see the teachers getting involved, but I am being weighed down with all this money!”
