Academic Mentoring

Years 7 – 10

Here at OBA we are keen to ensure that all students maximise their potential and that they are well aware of their own progress and how to move further forward. As a result every form class has an assigned academic mentor. This mentor will meet individually with each student once every half term. They spend quality time with the students reviewing their most recent progress report and setting specific targets for the next term.

“I find meeting with my academic mentor really useful, it gives me a chance to go through my progress report in detail and think about how to improve”

Curtis – Year 10

Year 11

In Year 11 we personalise the academic programme further. Students are assigned their own personal mentor. This is through a mixture of pupil request and staff referral. Students then meet on a regular basis with their mentor to review progress and set further targets.
